Thoughts and Observations

If you don’t know it, this is the Robin Hood Estate in Poplar, East London. It is of architectural interest, but apparently it is not interesting enough. It has enjoyed a 5 year reprieve from demolition since 2009 but is now under threat once more. Rumour has it the battle is lost.

A professional architectural photographer with an eye for balanced compositions, Sarah J Duncan is probably used to shinier subjects, but I like the lives she’s captured here. You can see more of her work at http://sarahjduncan.com/

You can read more about the Robin Hood Estate in the Guardian’s ‘Five architectural treasures we must save‘ and Twentieth Century Society (C20) continues to support the fight to save it.
